EARLY RECORDINGS IN AMERICA

Robert D. Morritt

These pages explore the earliest attempts to reproduce sound.  This book is an overview of the recording industry from inception and concentrates mainly on recorded repertoire from the 1890's until 1929/1930 'The Great Depression.'  After the New Amberoia Graphic published my serialized 'Carson Robison' discography I spent a few years updating the output of early recording artists and the repertoire of small and intermediate record companies.  My career took an upturn and delayed my aspiration of collating my notes into book form.  Finally I have been able to complete this project.  I have added much more information than I had earlier envisaged.  My hope is that this book will enthuse both the seasoned and "new" vintage "Record collector.'
